g39 Fellowship

We are excited to announce that applications are invited to be part of the 2nd cohort of the g39 Fellowship.

The g39 Fellowship is a 2-year programme at g39 for artists, supported by Freelands Artist Programme.

Year 1: April – September 2020

Year 2: Dates TBC

Deadline for applications: 5 August 2019

The g39 Fellowship is an initiative that fosters, extends and reinforces a peer group of artists over a five-year programme. It forms part of the Freelands Artist Programme alongside equivalent initiatives organised by PS2 (Paragon Studios/Project Space) in Belfast, Site Gallery in Sheffield and Talbot Rice Gallery at the University of Edinburgh.

 Opportunity

This is an opportunity for early career artists to take part in a programme of artistic development, with curatorial and practical support from g39. For each cohort five artists will be selected to take part in a structured programme of studio practice and self-directed research at g39 over a period of two years.

The Fellowship will comprise an intensive series of workshops and training, contact time with mentors, visiting artists, curators and g39 staff. We’ll also be organising guest speakers and lectures, group peer critique sessions, plus away days, research visits, remote networking and social activity. In addition the Freelands Artist Programme will also organise a symposium annually and an exhibition opportunity at the end of each two-year cohort for all participants. By the end of the programme, twenty artists will have participated in the g39 Fellowship.
