A film about welcoming people with autism and sensory processing difficulties, to the gallery setting.

Ffilm am groesawu pobl sy’n awtistig ac sy’n profi anawsterau prosesu synhwyraidd, i leoliad yr oriel.

Gaia has produced a resource for artists, curators and those working in the arts to  understand the difficulties experienced by those to have sensory processing issues due to autism. She explores how best to work with those individuals.

She gives us ways to minimise exclusion and avoid negative  impacts on their physical and mental wellbeing. Sensory overload can result in  anything from embarrassment to mental collapse and an inability to cope with the environment. The film offers simple processes that can be put in place to enable a positive, inclusive environment.
Gaia is a neurodiverse artist based in Pembrokeshire with sensory processing issues who has  frequently experienced exclusion from arts projects and spaces. She works in film and has exhibited widely. She recently spoke at the Unlimited: Making Space (2020) conference. She has been chosen to be one of Oriel Davies’s new Associate Artists.

How do I go Public? //Sut allaf geisio nawdd cyhoeddus?

A guide to working on public art commissions and residencies

Canllaw i weithio ar gomisiynau celf a phreswyliadau cyhoeddus

This resource has been written for artists to give you an impression of how you can work in the public realm via commissions and residencies. It will help you identify your strengths and work out what kind of projects will be best suited to you.

Working in the public realm (ie working to a brief for a publicly funded project, such as a residency for a community organisation or a commission by a local authority or a business) is vastly different from working with a curator and audiences in a gallery or studio context. You should anticipate what these differences are, and whether your practice is suited to the public realm.

Mae’r adnodd hwn wedi’i lunio ar gyfer artistiaid er mwyn rhoi syniad i chi o sut y gallwch weithio yn llygad y cyhoedd drwy gomisiynau a phreswyliadau. Bydd yn eich helpu i nodi’ch cryfderau ac i weithio allan pa fath o brosiectau fyddai’n gweddu orau i chi.

Mae gwahaniaeth sylweddol rhwng gweithio yn llygad y cyhoedd (h.y. gweithio yn unol â briff ar gyfer prosiect a ariennir yn gyhoeddus, fel preswyliad ar gyfer sefydliad cymunedol neu gomisiwn gan awdurdod lleol neu fusnes) a gweithio gyda churadur a chynulleidfaoedd yng nghyd-destun oriel neu stiwdio. Dylwch ragweld beth yw’r gwahaniaethau hyn, a ph’un a yw eich arfer yn gweddu i fod yn llygad y cyhoedd.

Simon Fenoulhet is an artist who plays with our preconceptions of the material world by manipulating everyday objects with unexpected outcomes. Simon Fenoulhet studied at both Newport and Cardiff Colleges of Art. Since then he has worked throughout Wales as an artist, educator and public art consultant, including a period as Deputy Director of Cywaith Cymru.Artworks Wales between 1991 and 2002. He won the Gold Medal for Fine Art at the 2010 National Eisteddfod of Wales and now works freelance as an artist and arts consultant.
